is a joint initiative
of Evangelical Alliance and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association,
steered by senior church leaders from a range of denominations, and geared
for those who have a heart for reaching Ireland. In a sense it combines
two concepts – an EA Assembly of Leaders and a BGEA School of Evangelism,
seeking to bring leaders together to inspire and encourage in our mission
task.
The keynote speakers
for the event will be Ravi Zacharias, world-renowned apologist and philosopher,
Anne Graham Lotz, who needs little introduction to Ireland, whilst Bible
readings will be led by Trevor Morrow, minister of the Presbyterian church
in Lucan on the outskirts of Dublin. The theme they will all be helping
us unpack is the centrality of Jesus Christ in our mission task to a post-modern,
rapidly becoming post-Christian world!
However, the event
will not just be platform teaching! The programme is geared to help us
engage in mission under four main streams – the challenges of sharing
faith, church, society and children/youth. For each of these streams there
will be plenary speakers and a series of practical workshops highlighting
thriving examples of mission in Ireland, led by those working in different
parts of the land.
We think this is perhaps
the first time that an attempt has been made to bring together over
600 leaders, clergy and laity, from across Ireland, under a mission banner,
and steered by such a group, and we trust that you will challenge your
church to send you along with several key leaders from your fellowship
to share in what we hope will be an unforgettable experience.
